Since mid-2016 following his inclusion in WWE’s 2K17 video game, Bill Goldberg has made a number of appearances across WWE TV and their annual premium live events, with the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion often positioned strongly on the card and even capturing the Universal Championship on two occasions.
At now appears as though we may have seen the last of the 56-year-old in WWE however, as according to a new report from Fightful Select, Bill Goldberg’s time with WWE has now come to an end following the expiration of his contract at the end of last year, officially making him a free agent.
“Fightful Select has confirmed that Bill Goldberg’s WWE contract expired at the end of 2022, and no deal to renew or extend was reached. Goldberg has been officially a free agent since that point.”

Goldberg competed for WWE just once last year, losing out to the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, and the formerly undefeated WCW legend also put over the likes of Braun Strowman, Drew Mclntyre, and Bobby Lashley in recent years, although he did get his win back from Lashley.
As pointed out within the report, all of Goldberg’s matches for WWE since 2018 had taken place across the company’s “Big 4” events as well as their Saudi Arabia shows,
AEW were rumoured to be interested in the WWE Hall of Famer back in 2019, however that was never confirmed. As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Goldberg’s WWE departure and any potential interest from AEW as soon as we hear more.
