Ahead of tonight’s debut episode of AEW Collision, another name looks set to join the company in a backstage capacity.

With AEW debuting their new weekly two-hour Saturday night wrestling show, Collision, tonight on TNT, the company have reportedly brought in a number of names to help in a creative capacity.

It now appears as though the company are bringing in yet another name to help manage the increasing workload, as Fightful Select are reporting that Chris Hero is set to be backstage at tonight’s debut episode of Collision and will be working in a backstage capacity at the least on a trial basis.

“Chris Hero is being looked at as a potential name to join All Elite Wrestling in at least a backstage capacity, Fightful Select has learned. We’ve been told that Hero is in town and is scheduled to be backstage at the AEW Collision debut in Chicago tonight, working with the company on a trial basis.”

Hero hasn’t wrestled since his release from WWE over three years ago, where he’d been competing as Kassius Ohno on NXT. Despite his in-ring absence, however, Hero recently appeared on the Grapsody podcast, where he revealed that he isn’t retired and is waiting for the right opportunity to get back into the squared circle.

Since departing WWE, numerous independent promotions have expressed an interest in booking for former two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, although he’s remained an inactive free agent for the past three years.

As of writing, it’s unclear as to whether there are any plans for Hero to wrestle for AEW, but there are certainly plenty of names across the roster he has history with, most notably the current ROH World Champion, and Hero’s former Kings of Wrestling tag team partner, Claudio Castagnoli.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Chris Hero potentially joining AEW as soon as we hear more.
