The feud between Finn Balor and Edge has been raging on since last June, when the former replaced the latter as the leader of The Judgment Day. Warfare between Edge and Balor has escalated over time, with both Beth Phoenix and Rhea Ripley coming to blows as a result of the feud.
The four-time WWE Champion made his return at January 28’s Royal Rumble, but, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer, the Rated R Superstar was initially pencilled in for even bigger plans in San Antonio.
“Edge and Balor were to do a Hell in a Cell match at Royal Rumble but Edge’s acting commitments kept him from setting the match up strong enough, so it’s a possibility coming out of this match for Mania.”– Dave Meltzer
This also further confirms the reports last month by Fightful Select & WrestlingNews.Co about a planned Hell In A Cell match between the two.
It’s possible that the showdown will be pushed back to WrestleMania, where the two will finally look to end their ongoing tension. It’s been rumoured for some time that Edge will be winding down his career in the years to come so many fans will want to see the star take on a myriad of fresh opponents before he inevitably calls it a day, whenever that may be.
