AEW star Kenny Omega is currently absent from in-ring action, with the former AEW World Champion having not competed since dropping the title to Hangman Adam Page in November of last year.

Kenny Omega’s former Golden Lovers tag-team partner and long-time best friend Kota Ibushi is also currently on the sidelines, with both injury troubles and conflict with New Japan management casting doubt over his future. Kota Ibushi last wrestled vs Kazuchika Okada in the Final of last year’s NJPW G1 Climax tournament, which is where the injury was sustained and the match ended early.

Omega recently appeared on the CEOGaming twitch channel, where he was asked who could currently bench more out of Ibushi and himself. Omega’s response highlighted a major reason for Kota Ibushi’s in-ring absence, with Omega seemingly being ahead of his former tag-team partner on the road to recovery.

“Considering my shoulder is still attached, probably me. Ibushi’s shoulder’s not healing so great right now unfortunately.”

-Kenny Omega

As always, we wish both Omega and Ibushi the best in their respective recoveries, and look forward to seeing what the future holds for the pair when the time is right.
