Kevin Knight says AEW will have both Rebel and The Butcher on their mind during the September 9 edition of Dynamite.

Tomorrow’s “Rebel Heart” edition of AEW Dynamite will aim to honour Tanea Brooks, known to fans as Rebel, in an effort to raise awareness for ALS. The event was officially added to the calendar back in July, however. this past weekend, the wrestling world was stunned when Andy Williams, AKA The Butcher, died from a cardiac event after collapsing during a match. As such, the September 9 show has become all the more poignant. Now, a former TNT Champion has addressed the importance of tomorrow’s event.

In a chat with 11Alive, Kevin Knight noted how AEW will have both in mind during the “Rebel Heart” show.

“I never got to meet Andy Williams. He was there before I got to AEW, but from all the stories that I’ve heard, everything that I’ve seen on social media, he was a lovely guy. Nobody had anything ever negative to say about him. Man, he was just such a creative and inspiring person from what I can sense. I really wish I could have met and connected with him, but again, we have two people on our minds going into tomorrow’s show, and it’s gonna make it that much more special.”

AEW has been good at honoring their fallen members, with the Brodie Lee special standing out as one key example. Rebel will be in attendance at tomorrow’s Dynamite and will even be part of the return of “The Waiting Room”, alongside her best friend Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., who will be in a six-woman tag match that same night.

The outpouring of memories about Andy Williams/Butcher continues to roll in, as wrestlers like Eddie Kingston speak about the kindness and love that Butcher brought to the wrestling world. You can read more about what Kingston had to say here.

As always, we’ll keep aim to provide any further updates on AEW’s special events, including the Rebel Heart show, as soon as we hear more.
