Latest Reports On Bayley’s WWE Contract Situation

Despite returning to WWE last night, Bayley’s contract situation appears to have gotten even stranger.

For months now, both fans and wrestling insiders have been wondering what will happen with Bayley. There has been reports that she would stay in WWE but was negotiating a new deal, which you can read about here. Then, within the last few days, reports swirled that Bayley not only signed a new deal, which you can check out here, but she would be back on Monday Night Raw soon.

Sure enough, Bayley did return to Raw last night and attacked Lyra Valkyria, who had written her off TV for an extended period due to a beatdown their last match at Madison Square Garden. Not long after, Dave Meltzer reported, “Yep, signed a new deal.”

However, in contrast Mike Johnson of PWInsider gave a much different report.

“As PWInsiderElite.com reported, Bayley returned to WWE storylines last night, attacking Lyra Valkyria. She is back on the Raw roster full-time and will be on the road going forward. There are reports that Bayley signed a new WWE deal with that report attributed to Dave Meltzer. That is incorrect. Multiple WWE sources have indicated that there were no conversations about Bayley signing a new deal, as she still has lots of time left on her contract. Anyone claiming she signed a new deal as a condition of her return would be 100% wrong.”

It should be noted that WWE has very much been known to use certain talents to the fullest of their contracts before releasing them, so this could be an example of that. Plus, we could hear from Bayley herself soon, confirming or denying that she has signed a new deal and is staying with WWE.

The wild card here is Mercedes Moné. She’s Bayley’s very close best friend and has been campaigning on social media to bring Bayley to All Elite Wrestling. It’s gotten so prominent that even interviewers are asking her about it, as you can find out here.

One can argue that we haven’t seen a situation like this in quite some time. There are always rumors about “What contracts will come up next?” during certain seasons, but this one with Bayley is truly different. Is she staying? Is she going? Is she merely “paying respect” by doing this one last outing in WWE before going to AEW? Only time will tell.
