Former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kota Ibushi has been absent from in-ring action since his loss to Kazuchika Okada in the final of last year’s G1 Climax, with the New Japan star dealing with a serious shoulder injury, in addition to falling out with a number of NJPW talents and officials over a series of tweets where the 40 year-old aired his frustrations over his treatment within the company.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an update on Ibushi’s injury status, reporting that his shoulder is slowly healing.

“The latest on Kota Ibushi is that his shoulder is slowly healing up.”

Ibushi was recently pictured alongside his former Golden Lovers teammate Kenny Omega, as the former AEW World Champion is currenly in Japan for the Tokyo Game Show whilst he serves his suspension for the his involvement in the backstage brawl between The Elite and CM Punk.

As always we wish Kota Ibushi the best in his recovery, and look forward to seeing what the future holds for him when he’s ready to return to the ring.
