Following the indefinite suspension of former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Naomi, WWE have officially vacated the titles.

The announcement was made by Michael Cole on the May 21st edition of Smackdown, with a “future tournament” revealed to be in the plans to crown new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter have now provided an insight into the plans for said tournament, with the number of teams & some of the planned participants potentially being revealed.

“Regarding the tag team titles, there will be a tournament. There have been different pitches made. At least two involved a four-team tournament. In one, the four names are Natalya & Shayna Baszler, Tamina & Dana Brooke, Nikki ASH & Doudrop and Carmella & Zelina”

No update has been provided on when WWE plans to hold said tournament, although with the title’s currently vacant we can’t imagine they’ll hold off on crowning new champions for too long.
