Earlier this year, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin shockingly came out of retirement to take on Kevin Ownes in the main event of Wrestlemania 38 Night 1. The bout was a huge success, with reports emerging shortly after the event stating that Austin was happy with his performance, and would potentially consider another match down the line.

The Texas Rattlesnake recently shared a video of him appearing to be getting back into in-ring shape, sparking rumours that another match was on the horizon. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an update on the prospect of Austin competing at Wrestlemania 39 next year, revealing that discussions have indeed began.

“There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks that Steve Austin would be willing to do another match at WrestleMania this year. All we know for sure is that there is smoke to the fire and something is in the discussion phase.”

As of writing, little is known regarding the potential opponent for a possible Stone Cold return, although the rumour mill has already began, with fans pitching the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and even CM Punk amidst his uncertain AEW future.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any updates on a possible Steve Austin return as soon as we know more.
