On the July 6th edition of AEW Dynamite, Wardlow finally got his first taste of championship gold, as he captured the TNT Title from Scorpio Sky in a street fight. Wardlow set out to prove he’s a fighting champion by defending his title the following week against Orange Cassidy.

Speaking to Telegram & Gazette, Wardlow revealed that he wants to bring back the TNT Championship open challenge that Cody Rhodes utilised during his reign as the inaugural title holder.

“That’s actually my number one priority. I want to bring back the open challenge. I’m not sure if that’s what we’re going to do but I would definitely like to bring that back. Right now I have the original design, which I love, and I don’t have any plans to customize it. If they give me the opportunity, maybe I will, but I do love the original. Honestly, my only goal for the rest of this year is to successfully defend the TNT Championship and make sure that the title is the title in professional wrestling, so by the end of this year it’s the most talked about title in wrestling.”

In the past, Miro and Scorpio Sky both held custom TNT Championship titles to display their personalities and uniqueness, although it appears as though Wardlow won’t be continuing this trend.

Wardlow’s next AEW TNT Title defense has yet to be announced, but we certainly can’t wait to see what’s next for AEW’s home-grown superstar.
