Will Ospreay has opened up on honouring PAC through his match with Ricochet on AEW Dynamite.

On last week’s Dynamite, All Elite Wrestling honoured the life and legacy of PAC. In tribute to him, Will Ospreay fought Ricochet in what many felt was the perfect match to put on in memory of the former All-Atlantic Champion. The match resonated with those watching round the world, though Ospreay has now opened up on it being an incredibly difficult match to do for more reasons than one.

Speaking on Speedball Mike Bailey’s vlog, Will Ospreay opened up on how many felt he was the right person to attempt the Black Arrow on Dynamite, saying he hadn’t done it in eight years prior to Wednesday night.

“That [doing the Black Arrow] was a tough one. I ain’t done that in eight years. The last time I did it, I was like 10 kilos lighter. I don’t know what that is in pounds, but that was one of the most difficult matches I’ve ever done in my life when it comes to myself and Trevor. Obviously, there is always hard feelings between us because egos are always getting in the way, and you always want to be sitting on top of the throne, and I know he wants this championship. But to be able to put our differences aside and do a great, great tribute to a very good friend of the pair of us. I wanted to do it right. The whole time building up to this, one thing people kept saying was if anyone can hit the Black Arrow, it was me. Hadn’t done it in eight years. I found a way of doing it now.”

Ospreay hitting the Black Arrow was a very poignant moment for those watching around the world, and he was overcome with emotion in the ring post-match after being able to nail the move. He revealed on social media after the fact that he’d been practicing it for hours before doors opened for the show, and was no doubt feeling the pressure when the time came.

Now, though, Ospreay has to look to Grand Slam: France, which happens tomorrow, and should he survive Okada, he’ll take part in the first “Clockwork Carnage” match in AEW history. You can read his comments about the match he created coming to AEW here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Will Ospreay as soon as we hear more.
