Will Ospreay Reveals Next Title Defense For Grand Slam: France
Will Ospreay has confirmed his title defence for Grand Slam: France.
To close AEW All Out Jon Moxley challenge Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship. In the end, “The Aerial Assassin” was finally able to put away his former mentor, but, after many felt Moxley was the logical first challenger to Ospreay, attention has turned to what the Brit will do next. Last night, not long after the match, we found out.
During the All Out Media Scrum that followed, Kazuchika Okada appeared while Will was talking, so Ospreay challenged him to a world title match at Grand Slam: France.
This is set to be only the second Okada will have challenge for the AEW World Title, with the first coming during Bryan Danielson’s reign in 2024. However, while he hasn’t had many opportunities at the gold, history is on his side against the current champion. Taking into account their years in New Japan and the final of the 2024 Continental Classic, “The Rainmaker” boasts an 8-2 record against Will Ospreay.
With the match set for Grand Slam: France, this leaves room for fans to speculate over who Ospreay will face at WrestleDream should he leave Paris with the title in tact. So far, the only match confirmed for the October 17 pay-per-view is Mercedes Moné vs. Thekla for the Women’s World Championship.
AEW’s Grand Slam: France is set to take place on a Tuesday night, opposite an episode of NXT. As such, a recent report suggests WWE are planning to have at least one main roster talent on the show that week. You can read more about that here.
