Willow Nightingale Promises Hard Work As AEW Women’s World Champion

Willow Nightingale has further reflected on her victory at AEW Redemption.
At this past Sunday’s Redemption, Willow defeated Thekla to finally become the AEW Women’s World Champion. As a result, “The Babe With The Power” is now the first female Grand Slam Champion in the company’s history, having been one-half of the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions back in December, while being able to reflect on two reigns with the TBS Championship. Having reached the top of the mountain, Nightingale has expressed gratitude and looked ahead to the future.
On her Instagram, she shared some moments from AEW Redemption, before making her mission statement going forward.
With her most recent TBS Championship reign only ending due to a shoulder injury, it’s certainly been an incredibly successful year for Willow in the ring. During her run as “The Comeback Killer” the star defended her title 10 times, and she’ll likely welcome any challenge now she’s the Women’s World Champion. However, her biggest obstacle might be the one coming at AEW All In: London as Mercedes Moné awaits to challenge for the gold in England’s capital.
The history between Moné and Nightingale speaks for itself, and two have a fierce rivalry dating back to 2024 when “The CEO” defeated Willow to win the TBS Championship. However, with the 32-year-old getting her win back final Dynamite of 2025, the pair stand at 1-1 in singles competition heading into Wembley. While not in AEW, it’s also worth noting that Willow holds another victory over her upcoming opponent from the NJPW STRONG Resurgence show in 2023.
Despite her success, it’s notable that Nightingale recently opened up about her battle with depression over the last year. You can read the latest on that here.
As always, we’ll keep you aim to provide any further updates on Willow Nightingale as soon as we hear more.
