The future is uncertain for Brock Lesnar.

Following Janel Grant’s lawsuit filing on Thursday against Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis, multiple reports suggested that Brock Lesnar, who was originally reported as being planned to return at the Royal Rumble, had been pulled from the event, and it appeared that this was indeed the case.

Lesnar was absent on the night, and Fightful Select have now corroborated several reports, confirming that Lesnar plans to travel into Tampa, Florida, for the show were cancelled immediately as a result of the lawsuit.

“Fightful has learned that multiple reports regarding Brock Lesnar and his immediate status in WWE were true. Fightful reported last week that Lesnar was at least planned for the WWE Royal Rumble. By Thursday and WWE’s lawsuit that alluded to him, that was no longer the case Fightful learned by Friday, plans for Lesnar to travel into Tampa were cancelled.”

Fightful were also able to confirm two reports regarding Lesnar’s replacement in the match, as the Wrestling Observer revealed that NXT’s Bron Breakker was given Lesnar’s spot and eliminations, whilst POST Wrestling additionally added that Dominik Mysterio would’ve still been the one to eliminate Lesnar, with the original plan for Elimination Chamber seeing Lesnar face Mysterio.

Furthermore, the report claims that Lesnar was discussed as a potential opponent for GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40 in April, with these discussions having since died down. Interestingly, Fightful note that Lesnar vs. GUNTHER was internally listed for WrestleMania 39 in fall 2022, however this had been changed to GUNTHER vs. Sheamus vs. Drew Mclntyre by the time the document emerged that December.

As a result of Lesnar’s being pulled, along with CM Punk’s recent injury, a big part of the WrestleMania plans have been shuffled, and thus it’ll be interesting to see where the company decides to go from here.

Finally, Fightful’s report shared the thoughts of one WWE source, who stated that it could be a long time before we see Lesnar again, barring a drastic change.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Brock Lesnar as soon as we hear more.
