Since WWE Hall of Famer Edge’s emotional return to the company in 2020, he has appeared in a myriad of marquee matches with dream opponents such as AJ Styles and past rivals like Randy Orton. The star is coming off the back of a Hell In A Cell victory over Finn Balor, concluding his feud with The Judgment Day which had raged on for over seven months with many now wondering what is next for the Canadian 11-time world champion.

For a while now, there have been rumours that Rated R Superstar may be looking to hang up his boots before the year is out and, with WWE visiting Toronto this summer, many have suggested this to be a likely destination where Edge may call it a day. On the other hand, many fans aren’t ready to see the 49-year-old ride into the sunset and are instead eager for him to join AEW and reunite with Christian.

Addressing the situation, WrestleVotes (via GiveMeSport) are reporting that those in WWE would feel ‘surprised’ to see Edge join AEW once his current deal is up, feeling as if the star’s final match will come inside a WWE ring.

“If he retires the summer in Toronto, I wouldn’t be surprised. I would be surprised if he finishes his current deal and then goes to AEW, WWE would be surprised too. Even though you’ve got Christian factor, you know, they could team one more time and wrestle each other one more time, I’d be surprised if he wrestles past WWE. WWE would be very surprised as well.”

With his career now spanning over three decades, it’s logical to wonder when Edge will draw the curtain on his legendary career. Though, as of now, it’s unclear when, where or how this will take place.
