Mike Santana is thankful for his time with TNA Wrestling.

Last week, PWInsider reported that TNA World Champion Mike Santana’s contract with TNA Wrestling runs through mid-July, with further reports suggesting that people within WWE expect him to join the company once he becomes a free agent.

With speculation mounting regarding his future, Mike Santana recently spoke to Mike McGuire about his time with TNA. Santana said he is grateful for the past two years he has spent with the promotion and added that his next move will be determined by whichever opportunity offers the greatest potential for growth.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity that TNA gave me the last two years as far as being able to reinvent myself and rebuild myself. Just looking back on these last two years, I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of things and do a lot of great things. I don’t take it for granted, and being a part of why the company is where we’re at today and having this new TV deal and all this stuff and just being on the forefront of that, it feels great and it’s something that I take very serious. As far as the future goes, I’m the type that growth is part of my life and I feel like if there’s an opportunity for me to grow, then that’s what I’m gonna do. Whether it’s at TNA, whether anywhere. For me, if you’re not growing in this business, then what are you doing? If you’re not trying to progress in this business, then what are we doing? At the end of the day, like I need to show my daughter that there’s levels to this. And also my dad used to always say the top of one mountain is the bottom of another. So keep climbing. Keep climbing.”

TNA Slammiversary is set to take place on June 28 at Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, with Mike Santana scheduled to defend the TNA World Championship against Nic Nemeth in the main event.

Beyond the potentially imminent departure of Mike Santana, TNA Wrestling has recently seen a number of exits both on screen and behind the scenes, with Tessa Blanchard, Myla Grace, and Steve Maclin all having their release requests granted, while Tommy Dreamer and Sami Callihan are also no longer with the company.

Elsewhere, TNA Wrestling is reportedly in talks with Ohio Valley Wrestling regarding a potential agreement that would see OVW serve as the promotion’s developmental territory. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Mike Santana as soon as we hear more.
