Apollo Crews has been discussed within TNA Wrestling a potential signing.

On April 24, earlier this year, WWE released a number of talents from across NXT and the main roster, with one of those releases bringing Apollo Crews’ 11-year tenure with the company to an end. At the time of writing, it remains unclear what the future holds for Crews, although one avenue may have opened itself up.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, TNA Wrestling are said to be interested in signing Apollo Crews, with the former WWE star reportedly discussed internally as a potential roster addition later this year.

“WrestleVotes on Fightful Select has heard chatter about TNA Wrestling having interest in former WWE Intercontinental and United States Champion Apollo Crews. While it is unclear where things stand following the recent changes in TNA with the departures of Tommy Dreamer, Sami Callihan, and others, sources indicated that Crews had been discussed internally as a potential roster addition for later this year when he becomes available.”

The report highlights the recent turmoil within TNA Wrestling, with backstage departures including Tommy Dreamer and Sami Callihan, while Tessa Blanchard, Myla Grace, and Steve Maclin have all recently had their release requests granted by the promotion.

Looking ahead, TNA Wrestling’s Slammiversary is set to take place on Sunday, June 28, at the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. Mustafa Ali is set to defend the TNA International Championship against a mystery opponent at the event, leading to speculation that Apollo Crews could make his debut in the match.

However, as noted by Fightful Select, Crews’ non-compete status remains unclear, although if he is subject to the standard 90-day clause typically applied to main roster releases, he would be unable to appear at TNA Slammiversary this weekend.

During his time with WWE, Apollo Crews captured both the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship, although he was at times limited to appearances on Main Event.

Prior to signing with WWE in 2015, Crews competed on the independent scene as Uhaa Nation before going on to work for Dragongate and DGUSA between 2011 and 2015, where he won the promotion’s Best Newcomer award in 2011 and captured the Open the Twin Gate Championship alongside BxB Hulk.

With speculation continuing over potential roster additions, another departure could be on the horizon for TNA, with Mike Santana recently opening up on his future amid interest from WWE. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on TNA Wrestling’s interest in signing Apollo Crews as soon as we hear more.
