Tommaso Ciampa Promises He’ll Be Back At Arena Mexico

Tommaso Ciampa feels the need to return to Arena Mexico.

At last night’s AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, there were many wrestlers who were performing at Arena Mexico for the very first time. One of whom was Tommaso Ciampa, who was part of a three-way match to determine the first entrant for the Casino Gauntlet match at All In: London later this month. To invoke a response from the crowd “The Psycho Killer” came out dressed in the American flag, and, while he came up short in his fight, he’s praised the experience overall.

On Instagram, Ciampa promised that last night wouldn’t be his last Arena Mexico appearance.

“My first time performing in Arena Mexico… certainly not my last time. The Cathedral of Lucha Libre certainly lived up to the hype.”

There are many ways to interpret his “not my last time” line, but the easiest is that AEW Grand Slam: Mexico will be an annual event, especially given the overwhelmingly positive reception from fans following the first two appearances, and the incredible turnouts from fans in Arena Mexico.

Alternatively, AEW has not been afraid to send certain talent to CMLL on the regular to do special crossover matches. In fact, on Tuesday, there was a “CMLL vs. AEW” event that featured numerous talents from All Elite Wrestling, including Bandido and Kyle Fletcher. So, even if Grand Slam: Mexico doesn’t become an established feature, it’s still likely Ciampa returns to the “Wrestling Cathedral” in the future.

Someone else who seemingly enjoyed their trip to Arena Mexico was Adam Copeland, with “The Rated R Superstar” having used social media to show love to those who were in attendance for the event. You can read more about that here.
